As I refreshed my weather app and still saw a 60% chance of rain along with a gale-force wind warning, I was reluctant to move forward with Victoria and Charlie’s Rockland Maine engagement session. After talking with Victoria and learning this would be the only date she and Charlie could meet me until later in the winter, I quickly worked on forming a new plan. There was a break in the rain early in the afternoon. To help avoid the wind, we moved the location from the beach in Rockland, Maine, to the library. I am so grateful Victoria and Charlie trusted my new plan.
You would never know a storm was rolling in by the smiles on Victoria and Charlie’s faces. We used all the little paths and courtyards at the library before we drove over to a local bed and breakfast. Berry Manor Inn in Rockland, Maine had the most beautiful fall decore. The walkway leading up to their entrance created a stunning backdrop for a classic fall Rockland Maine engagement session. Right in the middle of their session, the skies opened up, and the rain poured down. Luckily the weather in Maine changes quickly, and it did not last too long.
Confident that we had a great variety, we decided to see just how windy the beach in Rockland would be. After all, that was our original location for their engagement session. We were pleasantly surprised when we stepped out of our cars. We captured the beach and the harbor. At this point, I thought the weather reports were wrong because the gale-force winds felt more like a strong breeze.
We pushed our luck and headed to the Breakwater in Rockland. It is an iconic landmark, and Victoria loves it. Including it in their engagement photos was so special. It turns out the weather reports were correct. The wind picked up the further out we walked. Between the waves crashing up onto the rocks and the wind taking my breath away, hearing my direction was a bit difficult. But Victora and Charlie had mastered posing and even with these challenges their engagement session could not have gone any better.
As we walked backed to our cars Charlies said “that was actually pretty fun”. Thats the biggest compliment any couple can give me. I know having a virtual stranger having you stand in diffrent poses, and taking your photos with a fairly intemidating camera is not easy. In fact, the fist twinty minuats are always a little akward. But the goal is that by the end you’ll feel comfortale and confident.
Victora and Charlie, thank you for trusting me. Thank you for working past those awkward moments and allowing me to capture your love. Your Rockland Engagement session was one of my favorites! I am sure your wedding will be even more magical! Enjoy this small sample of my favorites from the first half of your session. There are many more on the way!
