Capturing this season of life for Baily & Miles was such a joy! Their sweet twin girls are just 4 months old and are absolutely adorable. This family photo session gave me all the outdoor Maine vibes. Baily wanted to capture a classic Maine family Christmas, and there is nothing more magical than life on a lake at Christmas time.
When I arrived, Bailey gave me a tour around their property. The little Christmas tree on the dock was the perfect touch for a timeless Maine family Christmas card photo. As a mom, I know how fleeting this time is. Babies grow far too quickly. As children get bigger, photos of them become even more priceless. So I understand how important these photos are for them.
Usually, when families first book sessions, they are just thinking about the one good photo they need. Sometimes it’s for a Christmas card. Sometimes it’s to hang on the wall or used for gifts. But my goal is never to deliver one good photo. It isn’t even to deliver 20 good photos. My goal is to capture them as they are in this season of life. My goal is to capture just how tiny these girls look in their parent’s arms. It’s to capture not just the love their parents have for them, but the love they still have for each other.
My hope is these photos won’t just be the perfect Christmas card for this year. Baily and Miles. I hope these photos are treasured. I hope they remind you of all the memories you make together this Christmas. And when you look back on them many years from now, I hope they still bring you joy.
The best tip I can give to every couple capturing family photos is not to forget to capture a few of the two of you alone. The foundation for creating a happy family is the couple building it.
